Ryan Lochte is No Longer Second Best.
When I got the text message from Swim Network informing me that Ryan Lochte beat Michael Phelps in the 200 IM at the 2010 National Championships last night, I almost choked on what I was eating.

Nowadays, you never hear that Michael Phelps has lost a race -- but last night proved different. Last night proved that Ryan Lochte is capable of bringing down Michael Phelps.

I honestly didn't think it was possible.

Lochte's easy going attitude and "rad" behavior makes fans think that swimming isn't his life and that he doesn't take it seriously. However, this meet has proven that Lochte is all about business and that he is physically and mentally prepared to come out on top.

Phelps is still the best swimmer in the world and will probably hold that title for years but Ryan Lochte is definitely making a name for himself.

Check out last night's race. It wasn't even close; Lochte absolutely owned it.
