This Week in Words and Pics

Let's talk about sex.

Well, that's what everyone was talking about this week anyways.

Between Tiger and his sex scandal to Fantasia and her almost fatal affair, the media covered a lot about everyone's favorite topic.

The following article and blog post are two examples that went about it from a different angle.

Scientists Study the Ubiquitous 'Booty Call'
ABC News

The topic of this article blew my mind: the booty call??

They talk about it like it's a recent scientific discovery that hasn't been around for decades. However, the article finally gets interesting in the middle when the reader learns the history of the booty call.

In today's culture, many young men and women are intimidated by dating. "The pressure involved scares people," Jonason said.

New technologies like cell phones also make booty calls easy and available at all times.

"Back in the 50s, if you wanted to call on someone you had to go to the house or call them on the phone," he said. "Now you don't have to worry about interacting with the girl's father."

This angle works because it brings fresh material.

The concept of a booty call has been around for a while but the way in which it's pursued has changed. For example, it went from a phone call, to an instant message to a text ... or should I say "sext"?

Blog Post

The Intellectual
TheLadysBathroom's Blog

I would like to introduce everyone to Danielle Woodin. She is a recent graduate from UMASS Amherst, data analyst at EMC and an overall fun person to be around. I had the pleasure of meeting Danielle when she worked at BuyerZone as a seach enginge marketing intern.

One of the things I enjoyed talking to Danielle about was guys, dating and relationships. Like most females in their twenties, Danielle has been through enough to offer good advice; just enough in fact that she put together a blog offering advice and insight into the world of dating.

If you're a guy looking for women advice or a girl wanting to read other horror stories, I highly recommend you check out her blog. Here's a taste of what you'll find:
I am a firm believer of balance. I think everything in the universe operates in cycles – the economy, our emotions, events in our lives, relationships. We find our optimal point when find balance between the highs and the lows. There is validity to the statement “too much of a good thing”. By finding balance we establish long term contentment.

Let’s bring this idea to the bar. How do you tell the difference between the “hey ladies, what you drinking tonight?” guy and the guy who talks about spirituality and aspirations? more from The Intellectual
